The Vermont Roots Story
In 2014 a group of Vermont researchers launched an on-line survey that asked people who attended high school in Vermont to explain their decision to stay in, leave, or return to the state as adults. The survey gathered 3,692 fully completed surveys in a three week period. After the initial survey results were analyzed, several additional research projects were developed. These focused on the attachments that leavers keep to Vermont, the international networks of global returnees, and the experiences of stayers.
This site summarizes some of the findings and publications from the on-going studies. Thank you to all the Vermonters who have generously shared their stories.
